Malacca have various dishes to offer and very well-known for its lively flavours and aromas. Besides the western food, there are many choices of food from each of its community that has its distinct culinary style.


Malay food
 
 
 The traditional culinary style has been greatly influenced by the long-ago traders from neighboring countries, such as Indonesia, India, the Middle East, and China. Malay food is often described as spicy and flavorful as it utilizes a melting pot of spices and herbs.
 
 




Chinese food
 
Chinese food is generally mild in taste, the Malaysian Chinese have innovated and produced dishes with a touch of Indian and Malay cooking, creating food that can be equally as spicy.




Nyonya food

Nyonya foods are combining the best of Chinese cooking with Malay herbs and spices.












Satay celup
 
Satay celup is famous for chinese and a trade mark for Melaka. Normal satay are grilled with coal but satay celup are boiled similar to steamboat serve with thick and aromatic sauce for dipping.

Ikan bakar
 
Your visit is not complete if you did not eat ikan bakar. Just pick the fresh seafood, and tell them how you want it to be served, grill, baked or fried and is serve with nasi lemak and otak-otak. There many places you can dine in such as at umbai, alai, muara sg. duyung or at Linggi ikan bakar. 




 
 ‘Perkampungan Ikan Bakar Terapung’ in umbai is a restaurant complex built far at the sea shore just above the water level. So it will look like a floating building when tide happen.
